Hawks Stay on Top
Not exactly 110
points but the Hawks use a 95 point flogging of Melbourne to hold 1st
place for another week. The Demons managed 1.7 for the first half, while
Hawthorn were wasteful in the opening 30 minutes. The score at quarter time was
0.3.3 to 3.9.27 but the score could’ve easily been 0.3.3. to 12.0.72 which gave
the impression that the Hawks were letting Melbourne off easy. The 95 point
Demonic Demolition also puts an even bigger cloud over Mark Neeld’s future at
Melbourne: I personally he’s gone, could be out after the bye.
The Demons have
one game left to try and save Neeld. He was given a nightmare two games to
improve things: Hawthorn (just gone) and Collingwood next week. I think to
stand any chance of keeping his job, Melbourne need to either win (which is
unlikely) or lose by less than 60 points. The Hawks have two weeks off to
prepare for Carlton and reclaim top of the ladder.
Tips: 6 from 7
