Sunday Afternoon: GWS Giants vs. Port Adelaide Power

Electrocution

The Power ended their losing streak with a 75 point win over Greater Western Sydney. Although I tipped the Giants, well done Port, keeping the Giants to only 50 points while scoring 125 points yourselves is a huge effort for your club and just shows how far you’ve come. The Giants were never really in the game, 1.1.7 to 6.5.41 at quarter time which was then extended to 1.5.11 to 12.7.79 (68 point margin) by halftime. If the game wasn’t over then, it was certainly over by three-quarter time when the scoreboard read 3.10.28 to 17.9.111 (83 point margin) which lead to the 6.14.50 to 19.11.125 result.

The 75 point win allowed the power to jump into 10th spot, just behind West Coast by 0.5% (rounded). Despite the beating, the Giants still have a better percentage than Melbourne by just under 3% (also rounded). Shulz, Boak and Monfries were largely responsible for the demolition kicking 9 goals between them, but I’m going to say Treloar. His 7 tackles alone provided enough pressure to stop a 100+ point margin.

The Power battle the Swans at AAMI stadium next week while the Giants enjoy a bye to prepare for North Melbourne, who after their humiliating loss to Gold Coast won’t be taking any chances against the Giants.

My tips: 4 from 5
