Friday Night: Brisbane Lions vs Collingwood Magpies

Magpies Swoop on a Sleeping Lions

It was a disappointing display last night at the Gabba as the Magpies pulled a 49 point victory over a Lions side that now sits 14th on the Ladder with only 3 wins from 10 games: Suns, Demons and stunning Essendon are their only match winning performances so far this season. The Magpies on the other hand now sit 6th but can be easily overthrown if West Coast, Adelaide, Carlton, Port Adelaide or Richmond win this week. Three or more of the mentioned above sides win and Collingwood will find themselves back outside of the 8 (and parties will be thrown all over Australia).

Collingwood led 9.7.61 to Brisbane 2.4.16 at half time (that’s a 45 point margin). The miracle of the entire game for Brisbane is that they weren’t flogged by 90 points, or more a 3.1 haul from McGrath is about the only positive for the Lions who will have time to recuperate before facing a defensive Fremantle in Round twelve.

Tips: 1 from 1
