Sunday Night: Richmond Tigers vs. Saint Kilda Saints

Tiger Army Stands for Finals Chance

Also a short one. The Saints were never going to stand a chance against the Tigers, but were competitive for the first quarter.

Best on ground was Reiwoldt (Richmond’s) with 3 goals, 18 disposals, 18 kicks, 8 marks and 4 tackles.
Not going through any of their games again because I’ve already mentioned them.

My tips: 6 form 9 (83 from 111 games) (74.8% correct)

Sunday Afternoon: North Melbourne vs. GWS Giants

North Topple Small Giants

This one will also be very short. North Melbourne made a point of beating the Giants. It was never a close game.

Best on ground was Petrie who kicked a 5 goal bag, 11 disposals, 10 kicks, 1 handball, 6 marks and 3 tackles.

The Giants face the Bulldogs in a competitive contest but will result in a loss. North Melbourne battle Richmond in a close game at Etihad Stadium but the Tigers but Just have an edge.

My tips: 5 from 8

Sunday Afternoon: Hawthorn Hawks vs. Brisbane Lions

Hawks Stay on Top

This is going to be very short. Hawthorn dominated the game and that’s really all anyone needs to know, it was never going to be a close game.

Best on ground is a tie between two small bags. Franklin kicked 4 goals, 17 disposals, 13 kicks, 4 handballs, 4 marks and 3 tackles. Roughead also kicked 4 goals, 18 disposals, 13 kicks, 5 handballs, 8 marks and 4 tackles.

The Hawks as I said have a top of the table clash with the Cats so I’m not going through that again also not going through Lions/Suns game again which will be close.

My tips: 4 from 7

Saturday Night: Melbourne Demons vs. Western Bulldogs

Demonic Possession

So the Demons do know how to play footy. While a 3 point win, especially when you came from 41 points up, is dodging a bullet, it’s a good start for the Demons who will be looking for their third win of the season very soon. The Demons took control of the game, never letting the Bulldogs have a sniff after the first few minutes until the dying minutes of the game. I didn’t tip them, very few people would’ve, but well done Melbourne, you deserved the win.

Best on ground is a tie between a small bag and Dream Teamer. Watts kicked a small 4 goal bag, with 15 disposals, 11 kicks, 4 handballs, 9 marks and 3 tackles. Liberatore for the Bulldogs had a blinder of a game with 1 behind, 36 disposals, 23 kicks, 13 handballs, 6 marks, 9 tackles and a total of 144 in Dream Team.

The Demons will have a chance to put up a fight but probably won’t post a win against the Swans next week while the Bulldogs take on the Giants in a win for them.

My tips: 3 from 6

Saturday Night: Geelong Cats vs. Fremantle Dockers

Cats on the March for September

Collingwood lose, it’s a good week, Fremantle lose in that same week makes me a very happy person, even happier that the Dorkers were kept to only 44 points, and even happier still the Dorkers didn’t score for a quarter, best week I’ve had in a while. That and the Purple supporters have shut up. It was a very good win by the Cats, but the game was really over at three-quarter time when it was 7.16.58 to 4.2.26.

Best on ground was Christiansen for the Cats who was someone you would’ve wanted in your Dream Team with 2 behinds, 36 disposals, 19 kicks, 17 handballs, 6 marks, 6 tackles and a Dream Team score of 135.

The Cats have a chance to book themselves in to the finals if they win their top of the table clash with Hawthorn at the MCG but are unlikely to dethrone Hawthorn who have a by far superior percentage meaning they would need to be flogged by at least 70 points which isn’t going to happen. The Dockers will probably beat Saint Failda, I mean Kilda, but a Docker loss would favour the Eagles in the Western Derby in a fortnight.

My tips: 3 from 5

Saturday Afternoon: Port Adelaide Power vs. Collingwood Magpies

Power Charging Up

If you’re not a feral Magpies supporter it always makes your week when Collingwood lose and the Power really made them look second rate, outscoring them in every quarter (1st: 4.2.26 to 2.3.15. 2nd: 7.3.45 to 4.5.29. 3rd: 8.6.54 to 5.6.36 and 4th: 13.8.86 to 7.9.51). Collingwood were made to look like they were a team playing their first or second season and Buckles wouldn’t have liked it.

The best on ground is also a tie between two players you would’ve wanted in your Dream Team. Seedsman of the Magpies 2 behinds, 34 disposals, 22 kicks, 12 handballs, 15 marks, 3 tackles and totalled a Dream Team score of 148. Then there’s the Power’s Ebert with 1 goal, 30 disposals, 22 kicks, 8 handballs, 9 marks, 6 tackles and a total score in Dream Team of 137.

The Power have a chance to really show what they can do Essendon at Etihad Stadium next week while Collingwood have a chance to end a losing streak before it starts against Carlton on Friday Night at the MCG.

My tips: 2 from 4
