of the Bomb
Well, it was a Friday Night thriller at the MCG with
Essendon battling it out with Carlton. It was a proving to be a tight battle
with the scores 2.1.13.to 1.4.10 at quarter time but Carlton slowly worked it
out to beyond 30 points by half way through the 3rd before used a 5
goal to 2 goal final quarter to steal 5 points win: 11.11.77. to 10.12.72.
The game was packed full of highlights. Goddard
getting some nice hang time early in the first and Gartlett being able to run
all the way down the wing to deliver a cheap kick to his forward are the two
that stand out, but there are plenty more. Waite was easily the best on ground:
7 goals, 19 disposals, 15 kicks, 4 handballs, 12 marks and 2 tackles, and for
those doing Dreamteam (hope you had him in) 143 points.
Essendon now face a Suns side, who if they can beat North
today may provide a challenge for them. Carlton will enjoy their second
consecutive Friday night match next week against Hawthorn who will be looking
to reclaim top of the table after their bye.
