Saturday Afternoon: GWS Giants vs. Geelong Cats

Giant Victory for Cats

It was looking to be the upset of the round at quarter time will the Giants leading the Cats by three goals 5.3.33 to 2.3.15. true to what you’d expect, Chris Scott let the Cats have it. He was not a happy man (I’ll post a video of the spray later). What ever he said to them worked to some extent in the 2nd as the Cats held a slim 8 point lead at halftime 9.5.59 to 10.7.67. To the Giants credit, they held on to be only behind by two goals at three-quarter time before Geelong piled on 8 goals to 1 goal in the final term to take 15.8.98 to 24.13.157 59 point victory. Fair to say it wasn’t the walk over everyone probably expected and I think Sheedy would be pleased to see his young, inexperienced side put a fight against finals contenders, even if it was for three quarters.

Selwood was best on ground for the cats with 29 disposals, 13 kicks, 16 handballs, 6 marks, 7 tackles and scored 2.1. Podsiadly also kicked 5 goals for the Cats. Best on ground for the Giants, was Ward: 30 disposals, 14 kicks, 16 handballs, 8 marks, 1 tackle and scored a goal.
The Cats enjoy a bye before continuing their top of the table arm-wrestle with Hawthorn by facing Brisbane while the Giants have a winnable game against Port Adelaide who come off a bye at Skoda Stadium. If the Giants play like they did for three quarters against the Cats for the whole game against the Power, they could cause an upset and take their first win for the season.

My tips: 2 from 2
