Swans Dominate in a “Battle
of the Birds”
Adelaide were
decimated by a Sydney side looking to go back-to-back Premiers and judging off
how well they crushed the Crows, they’re a strong possibility to do it. If they
do it will be first time that two teams have made the Grand Final twice in a
row (excluding the Grand Final replay between Collingwood and Saint Kilda)
since the West Coast Eagles and the Swans did it in 2005 and 2006. This time it
could be another Swans vs. Hawthorn Grand Final. The Swans were the dominating
force all-day, which became really apparent when the Crows scored nothing but 5
points in the third quarter allowing the Swans to lead them 3.9.27 to 17.12.114
before they won the fourth 3.5.23 to 2.1.13 which cut the Swans lead to 77
points but the damage had already been done, the Swans effortlessly brushing
off the Crows 6.14.50 to 19.13.127
Hard to pick a
best on ground for Sydney because they were just too good, but I would say
Hannebery was. 42 disposals, 19 kicks, 23 handballs, 6 marks, 2 tackles and 1
goal 1 behind. He was someone you would’ve wanted in your Dream Team scoring
136, as was Mitchell who scored 144 and O’Keefe with 145.
The Swans now
enjoy a bye before taking on Port at in what will be another demolition while
the Crows now prepare for the Tigers before having their bye.
